Facile

Design by Nick Flygt / Strategisk Arkitektur

Facile (2019) is a compact sofa with a sleek design. When Nick was working with Strategisk Arkitektur tasked with designing a sofa for a combined restaurant and office environment, his vision was twofold. First he wanted to create a sofa that made the same use of the simple correlation between seat height and the angle of the backrest as a standard chair. But he also sought to solve the challenge of minimising the amount of materials used without producing a design that looked frail.

Facile sofa is available in solid oak or ash, standard stains on ash and white glazed oak or ash. Seat and back cushions are of cold-cured foam and covered in fabric or leather. The back cushion has covered buttons. The seat and the back can easily be unscrewed or unhooked to fit new covers. The sofa comes in a choice of two seat heights: 460 mm (for dining tables) and 650 mm (for bar tables). The higher version has a footrest in brushed stainless steel.

Optional extras: armrests in solid wood; link fittings in black metal that screw to the underside of the sofa; link table in MDF veneered with oak, ash or finished in standard stains on ash for linking corner units or lines of sofas; corner table option is a folded black planting vessel; pop-up table in solid wood with or without hooks for handbags, etc. The sofa is delivered assembled.

Facile is sleek and slender with the classic appeal of real wood and is ideal for use in lobbies and receptions, staff canteens, restaurants, cafés, waiting rooms, church halls, hotels and offices.
