Designed products

Joel Karlsson (1975) was born and grew up in Gothenburg. He trained in Interior Architecture and Furniture Design at the University College of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm and has also studied Architecture at the KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, and at Parsons School of Design in New York. Today he works as Head of Design at Krook & Tjäder Design in Gothenburg. When designing new products Joel works to the maxim “Research – if you have a good manuscript, the book writes itself”. Ridå was unveiled at the Stockholm Furniture Fair in 2010. The product is made in a combination of wood and formfelt – which is used here in a new way: flat rather than sculpted. A system that exposes by partially hiding. In 2011 was Quartz unveiled and the inspiration for the design comes from the endless variations of classic parquet flooring patterns that can be created with just a few simple basic shapes. Table Buff with top of HI-MACS presented in Stockholm Furniture Fair 2012, sound-absorber wall model Pillow 2013 and Reverb from ceiling 2016.
