KARL ANDERSSON & SÖNER
NICOLA COSENTINO STEFANO SPANIO
Mattias Ståhlbom (1971) complemented his studies at Stockholm’s University College of Arts, Crafts and Design with theoretical subjects such as the history of art and ethnology at Stockholm University. Since graduating he has worked for highly reputed design companies and architectural practices in Stockholm and New York. Since 2005 he has combined responsibility for the architectural consultancy TAF Arkitektkontor with his work as a freelance designer. Many of his works have been included in exhibitions, not only throughout Sweden in venues such as the Museum of Architecture in Stockholm, but also abroad, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Chamfer is the name of a series of tables developed together with his colleague Daniel Franzén. The name was inspired by a CAD command which means “to cut off the corners”. The actual design of the table is the result of experiments with perspectives and proportions. Chamfer was first introduced in 2006 and the coat stand Nest in 2007.
